Super mum running 7 marathons in 7 days!

For most people, the thought of running even one marathon is something they may only dream, or dread, to do.

This October, Diana Nicholls, a very grateful past patient, will be taking on the challenge of running 7 marathons in 7 days.

This incredible and ambitious pursuit is all to benefit the Mercy Perinatal team’s work to bring more mothers and babies safely home through research, education and clinical care.

Diana’s twin girls, Adrian Joy and Evie Mila, were delivered at Mercy Hospital for Women, under the guidance of the Mercy Perinatal team, at 30 weeks and 1 day

due to complications caused by twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome during pregnancy.

“Mercy Perinatal will always hold a special place in my heart. My identical twin girls, Adrian and Evie are here today because of everything they did for us in 2017,” Diana says.

After nearly three months in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and Special Care Nursery for Evie, and seven weeks for Adrian, Diana’s beautiful identical girls got to go safely home.

Diana is so thankful to the Mercy Perinatal team for everything they did for her family.

“I’m looking forward to taking on the 7 marathons to support Mercy Perinatal and all the families who have had, or currently are experiencing, difficulties with a high risk pregnancy, and anyone that has suffered with their mental health due to trauma… we are not alone,” Diana says.

The team at Mercy Perinatal is thrilled to have the support of Diana, who they have kept in contact with since the birth of her two daughters.

“We are all in awe of what Diana is doing and appreciate her ongoing support so much – each year she goes above and beyond to fundraise for our team. We couldn’t do the work we do without the support of Diana and those who donate to her. We can’t wait to cheer her on during her marathon week,” Mercy Perinatal Co-Director Stephen Tong says.
