Welcome from the Mercy Health Foundation CEO

Welcome to the Autumn edition of the Mercy Health Foundation newsletter for 2024.

Welcome to Autumn of 2024!

I cannot believe how quickly the year has flown. We have already celebrated Christmas and the new year, Valentine’s Day and Easter since the last time I wrote to you.

I am thrilled to say our 2023 Christmas Appeal featuring baby Luniva raised funds to support Werribee Mercy Hospital’s Paediatric Department. Thank you to all those who generously supported this appeal and impacted the care of children in Melbourne’s West.

In the last few months, the Foundation team has celebrated the new counselling garden at Mercy Palliative Care, the new Family Hub at Mercy Hospital for Women, and the 2023 recipients of Mercy Health Foundation Scholarships.  All scholarship recipients are pursuing professional development opportunities which ensure they become the best nurses, clinical and administrative staff they can be, providing better care to you and your families.  These opportunities have been brought to life thanks to donors like you.

The Foundation team and I are committed to funding health care for people at every age and stage of life. We have a strong community of like-minded people who are committed to our mission and values, like yourself. I look forward to being able to work with you, our generous donors, to connect you with the causes you care most about.

We recently sent you our first Supporter Survey. Whilst the survey is now closed, we were thrilled with the response and thank all of our donors who participated.

Your answers in the Supporter Survey will help us fund more impactful and important projects which provide more critical care to patients, residents and clients of Mercy Health. I look forward to finding out more about what drives you to support Mercy Health.

I am very pleased to invite you to our upcoming annual events. On Friday 10 May, we are hosting our Mother’s Day High Tea at Alto Events Space in the CBD, with all funds supporting the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Mercy Hospital for Women. Visit mercyhealthfoundation.org.au/event to book your tickets.

Our annual Golf Day will be held on Tuesday 28 May at the prestigious Kingston Heath Golf Club and is supporting the world-leading team at Mercy Perinatal to continue their work to bring more mothers and babies safely home.  If you would like to participate, please contact Mark Trayling on mtrayling@mercy.com.au.

The Foundation exists because of generous donors like you.  You are our stable, steadfast companion in transforming the lives of the people we care for at Mercy Health. You are what drives the real, tangible outcomes, making a difference to the lives of those most in need.

Please feel free to contact me directly on rmacfarling@mercy.com.au or 03 8416 7543 if you would like to discuss giving to Mercy Health Foundation.

Thank you.

Until next time,
