Donate in memory or celebration of a loved one.
Celebration gifts
For your next celebration, why not ask your friends and family to donate to Mercy Health instead of providing gifts? Donations in lieu of gifts are simple to arrange and can be applied to almost any event or celebration: births, birthdays, christenings/naming days, anniversaries, weddings, and more.
We can provide donation envelopes which you can either send out with your invitations or have available at your event.
By arranging gifts in celebration to Mercy Health, you improve care in our hospitals, in the community and in our aged care homes. Your donation can be directed to the area of greatest need, or to a particular facility or program that is most meaningful for you.
Gifts in memory
A gift in memory is a special way to pay tribute to the memory of a loved one. Your gift will be used to improve the care we provide in hospitals, the community and in our aged care homes. Donations can also be directed to one of our facilities or programs if a particular area is meaningful for you.
How your gift in memory will be recognised
The family of the person in memoriam receive a letter expressing condolences, along with a list of people who have given in memory of their loved one (dollar amounts are not mentioned).
Everyone who makes a memorial donation is sent a letter of thanks and receipt, which can be used for tax purposes if required. Your donation is acknowledged with a letter to the bereaved family (the dollar amount is not mentioned).
How do I make a gift in memory?
Donation envelopes can be sent to the Funeral Director who ensures they are available at the funeral service. If you wish to have memorial donation forms sent to a funeral home, please contact us on 03 8416 7766 or at foundation@mercy.com.au.
Alternatively, you can make a donation online or create a page in memory of your loved one.
The funeral notice
You may choose to make a gift or ask your family and friends to make a gift in lieu of giving flowers. To inform friends and mourners of your preference, we suggest you include this request in your loved one’s funeral notice. Some suggested wording may include:
“In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mercy Health. Envelopes will be available at the funeral or you can make a donation online by visiting www.mercyhealthfoundation.org.au.”
