Message from the Chairman

Welcome to the Autumn edition of the Mercy Health Foundation newsletter for 2023.

I would like to take this moment to express my deep gratitude to all of you who generously supported the 2022 Christmas Appeal.

Thanks to your incredible generosity, we raised significant funds for the Imagine Fund. Your support has made a real difference in the lives of many residents and has helped to make dreams come true for people like Robert and Marie and will continue to make dreams come true for many more aged care residents as we move into the new year (you can read about Marie’s dream come true just over the page).

As we move into a new year and a new season, my thoughts are drawn to the current challenges we are faced with, particularly in light of the recent economic difficulties that many of us may be experiencing. Despite these challenges, however, we remain committed to our mission of bringing God’s mercy to those most in need.

Thanks to your unwavering support in the face of such hardships, the Foundation can continue supporting Mercy Health to provide high-quality and innovative care and support to the many communities we serve each day.

In this edition of our newsletter, you will find updates on some of our most exciting initiatives, including Marie’s dream-come-true experience of dining in the sky. You will also find the heart-warming story of how a group of primary school students spread the spirit of Christmas to Mercy Health’s aged care residents.

As well, you will also read about a partnership with Western United Football Club that is helping Mercy Perinatal to bring more mothers and babies safely home.

Finally, it is my honour to announce that the Mercy Health Foundation Ball is back this year, after a three-year hiatus due to the COVID pandemic! I hope you will join us on Saturday 3 June for a night to remember, where we will be raising funds to support Mercy Perinatal’s ongoing stillbirth research.

Once again, I would like to extend our deepest thanks to all of you for your incredible ongoing support.

Best wishes,

Mr Julien O’Connell AO
